Sat, 25 November 2006 What a show, what a show! We shifted the live show this week from Thursday to Friday because of the Thanksgiving holiday and it paid off far more than we could have ever expected. An old pal of ours, Dave Storm, was in town for the holidays and we somehow coaxed him into coming in for the live show, with the beautiful Cindy in tow. The liquer flowed freely and earlier than ususal... so the levels are more off than usual and we missed a few spots, but a good time was had and the show turned out pretty good. This week we covered: - This week in SoCal Airsoft (the latest & greatest from our community) - OP: Mason Dixon II update - News about new guns from G&G and Escort - New Addition to the SoCal Airsoft Dictionary - What we are thankful for in Airsoft - Storm's Interview - Anouncement of our Hac Bao III video trailer All the notes for this show can be found on our Show Notes page: http://www.opsecairsoft.com/shownotes.php?op=view&id=42 Music Download "Riot Act" (mp3)

Fri, 17 November 2006 Last night was our first remote broadcast and while we had technical difficulty with the stream, everything else went extemely smoothly. We really didn't think we would pull in an audience, but suprisingly enough, a few of our pals stopped in: TacoDelRio - Steelhawk Helper Monkey Ruben - Ex-Steelhawk & MSF Tactical employee The Dude, Box & Reaver - Our good pal from MSF & beyond Tak - Lice's better half And of course the OPSEC staff was there (JemTao, Lice and Radar) to talk with our gracious host, Father Rich, manager of the Steelhawk Airsoft branch in Industry, CA. We started a bit late, but with our stream down... who really would know? We covered the on-goings this week in SoCal Airsoft, OPSEC's own charity game (Op: Mason Dixon II) updates and revisited the ever-sore MSF subject, the 15th being the 1 year anniversary of its closing. After the 1st break we touched on the new addition to the SoCal Airsoft Dictionary (Going SoCom) and had a lengthy discussion with Father Rich & Staff about the on-goings of an airsoft retailer. After the 2nd break, we talked about OPSEC's coverage of Hac Bao III last weekend along with a fun little game "The future of airsoft" (working title) featuring our very own talking magic eight ball. Overall we had a complete blast and look forward to the next remote that may come our way. We would also like to wish a very happy birthday to our own legacy Staffer, Lemon. Happy 22nd, bro! Fri, 10 November 2006 This week was our first live show on the new schedule as well as having Lice back in the co-host chair. Have to say it felt pretty good, just like the old days. In the studio with us was Niceaznguy (right) AKA "The Donger" who was unfortunately late due to the infamous Los Angeles traffic. No worries though, he made it in for the 2nd half of the show and even to record a few station promos for us. We talked about the on-going this week in SoCal Airsoft, featured a new segment known as "The SoCal Airsoft Dictionary" and discussed part 3 of our "Know Your Role" series; the airsoft sniper. We even played our latest (and "creepiest" according to the Chat) commercial for our newest sponsor; Tsunami Airsoft. Eric, owner/operator of Tsunami, even called in to give the then absent Donger a hard time, but to also help us out with the Mad Bull CO2 Gen II Gearbox discussion and to give us the latest scoop on Tsunami's products (like the new .30g BBs). We felt it was a strong show and had an absolute blast in the process. Music Protocols

Fri, 3 November 2006 Our transition of the live broadcast to Thursdays was made official last night.. well, sorta. Because we ran a live show for Halloween, we opted to broadcast one of our favorite legacy shows commercial-free to kick off the transition. Figures it would be one of the longest legacy shows we had in our batch, but well worth the listen. This is one of the favorites of the staff and for those that missed it the first time around, you're in luck. In this episode, John Lu (Event Organizer; Lion Claws, Irene, etc) was in-studio for an evening of fun. We covered everything under the sun related to organizing mass airsoft events and took more calls that we probably should have. Calls from San Diego, Texas, LA and even one from the UK! So much fun and interesting content that we lost track of time... which has become the norm these days. Enjoy! Comments[0] |
Wed, 1 November 2006 Taking a small break from out usual content as well as getting into the spirit of the holiday, we explored the topic of Zombies. This year, Halloween fell on a weekday and because we have jobs/lives, we chose not to party our brains out and put out a holiday broadcast instead. In this show, we explored how one becomes a zombie and the science behind it. Infection symptoms, disposal of the infected corpses, etc. After the 1st break, we covered the many different types of weaponry as well as what to look for when seeking refuge. After break 2, we hit up the zombie airsoft game and gave a mini how-to. The content for this show was based upon the book "The Zombie Survival Guide" by Max Brooks. Pick up your copy today! Thu, 26 October 2006 Our old pals Bronco, Jody, Tak and Toby sat in on the show this week to discuss Historical Airsoft Events with us. Bronco, being the history buff and expert on the subject, gave us more solid info that we could ever drum up on our own. A very educational and interesting night. We discussed what went down this week in the SoCal Airsoft scene and even covered two new airsoft items: - Inokatsu M60A1 - PPP 8mm Browning M2 .50 Caliber Machine Gun Pricey, but amazing new items that should serve those interested in historial airsoft reenactment well. We also had a follow-up Master Debater about historical airsoft reenactment, Vietnam vs WW2 in which Vietnam won as the master on the subject Bronco blew me out of the water! (Code Pink!). All-in-all... a very educational yet entertaining program... something we cant tout often! Music This Could Be A PossibilityValenciaI Surrender Records

Thu, 19 October 2006 This week, Longshanks (a good friend of the program) sat in the studio to discuss The Airsoft Grenadier. Knowing his joy of the role, we shifted the main topic to suit him and even brought back an old feature (Master Debater) just to see his face get red! We had a blast with Shanks and look forward to his return. On the program, we debuted two new features: - In-Studio Webcam Not too much fun.. but for those that want to see what goes on... yea. - This Week in SoCal Airsoft A look at the on-goings in our community featuring the latest news, games, and other misc nuggets of fried gold. We also brought back a old favorite, Master Debater. A bit where we take a burning question from the community and settle it once and for all. In the past we have done TM vs CA, M100 vs M120 and Hicaps vs Locaps. Last night, it was Airsoft; Hobby or Sport. Hobby squeeked by for the win... though we all agreed that there are elements of sport in the hobby. For the main topic, we continued our "Know Your Role" series with The Airsoft Grenadier. Longshanks is more qualified to discuss this role than any one of us staffers and he came through big time. He laid out the costs, best shells to use, different types of ammo and much, much more. The segment ran longer than we would have liked, but with so much damn good info, why cut it short? Thu, 12 October 2006 We doubled our fun (and show length!) this week having both Father Rich and Xan in-studio to raise a little hell. In retrospect, we should have had them both on seperate shows as there was just too much content that got pushed aside because of time. Regardless, a good time was had and they were merciless in their promotion of a certain game at a certain field... which made for great fun and many laughs. This week we coved the major games in and around CA and even one in TN. The main topic was the Airsoft SAW, classification, purpose, function, etc. We talked in great length and even took a few calls on the subject reenforcing our perspective... so bonus! Xan also gave us our very first REAL in-field reporting when he interviewed Charlie (Pal of Longshanks) about his first time airsofting, coming from a paintball background. Later on we attempted to interview both Rich and Xan, sadly, time got the best of us and we could not devote the time the interview deserved. All the details of the show can be found on the Oct 11th Show Notes page: http://www.opsecairsoft.com/shownotes.php?op=view&id=35 The music for this weeks show was inspired by an e-mail we recieved from Lisa of the Techno Squirrels. We cruised for hours looking for Electro groups that turned us on, and I think the choices we pretty solid. Tue, 10 October 2006 Just a quickie... A few of us from OPSEC, as well as a few of my KDO teammates, will be at the 40th annual Alpine Village Oktoberfest in Torrance, CA this Saturday (Oct 14th) from 5:30p until 1:00a celebrating the greatness that is our German heritage. Beer, chow, oompa bands, dancing and plenty of fun for the whole gang. Details can be found at: http://www.alpinevillage.net/oktoberfest.htm Category: general -- posted at: 2:02 PM Comments[0] |

Thu, 5 October 2006 This much fun should be illegal! We had an absolute blast with our old pal Heme from Gorilla Pack in the studio. Amazingly enough, everyone was on time and the good times ensued. Jem was back for his 2nd round as co host and I must say, did a much better job. More loose, relaxed and focused. We sprung our fake Irene IV interviews on the listeners to with great reactions all the way around. "Pirate Ship?" "Octopus?" Yea, all fake. We cleared this bit with John Lu to avoid any future issues so there is no need to pester the busy man. The bit was 100% fake and I hope everyone enjoyed it. There is one hint of 'unpleasantness' that deserves attention, our good pal Jedi from the SoCal forums took a verbal beating at the hands of our former in-studio helper monkey Lemon. We have edited that part out of the show out of respect for Jedi and offer our deepest apologies for letting the bit of audio hit the live air. This being his first show, we cut him some slack for the nervous factor and are having him back next week to "wow" us. Wed, 27 September 2006 So after patiently waiting, our little dog and pony show finally got listed in the iTunes store, podcast section. They are a little slow obtaining the latest updates from the RSS feed, but what is a few hours, really. You can find OPSEC Airsoft Radio by doing a search for "opsec" or "booyaka" once in the iTunes store. One more method for spreading the gospel that is OPSEC. Rejoice, iTunes monkeys, rejoice! Tue, 26 September 2006 We have spent the better part of two days looking for music for the next show. Granted we are an airsoft radio station, music is essential to our operation (bathroom breaks, rounds of Jager shots, etc.) and while we pride ourselves in enjoying bad music, the relaunch inspired us to care about the listeners so we started looking for music that will appeal to our listeners. That being said, we have some rockin' music coming up this week. Don't want to spoil the suprise, but let's just say that a few of the tunes acquired have been looping in the studio and we have yet to get sick of them! That includes last week's music too. Best part of it all, 100% podcast legal and most of the tracks are available for your download. You can check out the Show Notes page to see what music was played and how you can get in touch with the artist and possible even acquire the tune you heard. How's that for a slice of fried gold? If you have a band/genre you fancy, please let us know and we'll do our very best to it some airtime. Category: general -- posted at: 8:38 AM Comments[0] |
Sun, 24 September 2006 Due to the high winds, the audio interviews taken at Operation: Crimson Dunes III did not pan out as expected. All audio recorded ended up sounding like a brick in the garbage disposal with light talking in the background. We did talk with a few of the staff as well as a number of the players about the game and were pleasantly suprised with what we heard. We did not participate in this event, only covered the players comments and observed the ongoings of the Combat Enterprises machine. The full story/scoop can be heard on the next live show this Wednesday, the 27th of September at 7:00p Pacific. Category: general -- posted at: 6:03 PM Comments[0] |
